Release Engineer - Data Plane Internal Tooling and Productivity

Overview

Release engineer role focused on safe, continuous delivery for ClickHouse Cloud, with an equal split between operational execution and software development.

What you'll do

• Plan and execute rolling upgrades across tens of thousands of ClickHouse clusters.
• Own the release pipeline from pre-upgrade validation through post-upgrade monitoring and incident response.
• Investigate and resolve production issues during a regular on-call rotation, including edge cases.
• Build and improve internal tooling and automation for reliable, repeatable large-scale database operations.
• Work with core database and cloud infrastructure teams to address operational pain points.
• Support and educate other teams using internal tools.

What you'll need

• 5+ years of experience operating stateful distributed systems in production (e.g., databases, message queues, or storage).
• Hands-on experience running upgrades or maintenance operations on live production data stores at scale.
• Strong production debugging skills for digging into unfamiliar systems under pressure.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and Kubernetes.
• Software development experience in Go (or strong experience in another language with willingness to learn).
• Experience with ClickHouse preferred (as a user, operator, or contributor).
