Overview

Research Associate I in Baxter Pharmaceuticals R&D’s Characterization team, focused on LC-MS/GC-MS support for nitrosamine, extractables, and leachables studies.

What you'll do

• Develop, validate, and transfer quantitative methods for nitrosamine impurities (ppm to sub ppb).
• Design experiments to identify root causes of nitrosamine formation and develop mitigation strategies.
• Perform chemical extractions of container closure systems and drug product solutions.
• Use mass spectrometry-based approaches to solve challenging analytical problems.
• Develop and validate novel mass spectrometry-based analytical methods.
• Independently plan and execute laboratory studies; generate and interpret data.

What you'll need

• Masters degree with 6–10 years, or PhD with 4–6 years in a relevant discipline.
• Formal training in mass spectrometry.
• Skills in sophisticated mass spectrometric experiments (accurate mass and MS/MS) and interpretation of MS data.
• Good knowledge of organic chemistry and analytical disciplines such as chromatography, NMR, and IR.
• Ability to work independently in the laboratory, design studies, and conduct independent experiments.
• Capable of communicating with internal and external partners.
