Senior Backend Developer - Vice President

Overview

Senior Applications Development Technology Lead Analyst role within Citi's FX Technology group, delivering electronic trading and pricing and distribution software for the front office (STIRT business).

What you'll do

• Partner with multiple management teams to ensure appropriate integration of functions to meet goals, and identify and define necessary system enhancements to deploy new products and process improvements
• Resolve a variety of high impact problems/projects through in-depth evaluation of complex business processes, system processes, and industry standards
• Provide expertise in area and advanced knowledge of applications programming, ensuring application design adheres to the overall architecture blueprint
• Utilize advanced knowledge of system flow and develop standards for coding, testing, debugging, and implementation
• Develop comprehensive knowledge of how areas of business, such as architecture and infrastructure, integrate to accomplish business goals
• Provide in-depth analysis with interpretive thinking to define issues and develop innovative solutions
• Serve as advisor or coach to mid-level developers and analysts, allocating work as necessary
• Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations and Policy, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency
• Coordinate with stakeholders to deliver work-items in line with expectations
• Implement solutions to issues identified; identify, estimate and implement enhancements
• Contribute to shaping the future technical direction of the product
• Provide development support response to incidents and requests raised through support channels
• Communicate project progress and promote achievements

What you'll need

• 12+ years of relevant experience in Apps Development or systems analysis role
• 12+ years of server-side Java development track record; at least 10+ years commercial Java development experience
• Extensive experience in system analysis and in programming of software applications
• Experience in managing and implementing successful projects
• Subject Matter Expert (SME) in at least one area of Applications Development
• Ability to adjust priorities quickly as circumstances dictate
• Demonstrated leadership and project management skills
• Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication
• Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience
• Good academic background, with at least an under-graduate degree in a technical subject
• Proficient in core Java development (Java 17 and beyond)
• Expertise in Unix (Linux) commands and scripting
• Database skills in Oracle, with exposure to NoSQL DBs
• Middleware technologies
• Process and tools to produce well written, low defect rate code
• Experience of collaboration tools (source control)
• Experience developing and supporting mission critical applications
• Experience designing and developing distributed systems using a range of middleware and database products
• Experience working on a mature development in a large collaborative environment
• Understanding of DevOps chain: CI/CD, cloud deployment, etc.
• Strong aptitude for analysis and problem solving; strong written and verbal communication skills; attention to detail; self-motivated; excellent planning and organizational skills

• Master's degree
• Familiarity with one or more of: SpringBoot, cloud native technologies, messaging middleware (Solace), low latency programming, NoSQL databases, Python/Groovy scripting
• Knowledge of FX, with an appreciation of the whole pricing lifecycle
• Knowledge of and exposure to the regulatory environment impacting the banking industry
