Overview
Serve as a Senior Controls/SCADA Engineer and subject matter expert for controls, application modes, grid integration, and related systems and processes for utility-scale energy storage solutions.
What you'll do
- Lead the project team in realizing project-specific requirements with existing functionalities.
- Contribute to product development engineering for utility-scale energy storage solutions, including developing, implementing, and testing controls applications.
- Develop standardized test procedures and execute FAT and SAT to reduce commissioning time.
- Perform testing, including hands-on lab testing during evaluations of prototype systems.
- Manage interfaces with clients and subcontractors to ensure Controls compliance.
- Lead the concept during the Tender and Project Execution phases.
- Develop and maintain documentation of Controls infrastructure, including software architecture, hardware, applications, protocols, communication links, and system validation and testing procedures.
- Keep current with company products, developments, and projects as they apply to the Controls network at site and enterprise levels.
- Manage change-control procedures and documentation.
- Remain current on industry best practices and updated technology to provide Controls services.
- Support company strategy and provide relevant reporting and updates to company leadership as needed.
- Develop and recommend performance management and feedback for current Controls technical support KPIs.
- Execute tasks related to Fluence safety KPIs.
- Travel throughout EMEA.
What you'll need
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer or industrial engineering with a focus on automation and controls, or equivalent.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant Controls, software, or programming experience with a power utility or related industry and with the design, operation, and maintenance of a power plant.
- Expertise in the electricity transmission/distribution sector and EMS systems, including grid code and requirements analysis and development and testing of algorithms for grid services applications.
- Expertise in SCADA protocols: IEC60870-5-101/103/104, IEC 61850 MMS, DNP3, Modbus and TCP/IP.
- Expertise with PLCs, Remote Terminal Units (RTUs), SEL Real Time Automation Controller (RTAC), SEL relays and meters, Siemens relays and meters, SCADA gateways, and data concentrators.
- Experience with Linux-based systems and commands, high-level programming languages such as Python, shell/bash scripting, and Github.
- Experience with MathWorks Simulink for model-based systems engineering and C/C++.
- Expertise in the design, operation, and maintenance of high-voltage electrical equipment, including but not limited to inverters, transformers, I/O racks, telecommunications, and controllers.
- Solution-oriented mindset.
