Engineer - Controls Engineering

Overview

Perform control engineering and DCS activities for substation automation projects within India and abroad, including design, database configuration, relay integration, system validation and commissioning.

What you'll do

• Perform DCS database configuration with GE systems.
• Prepare design and engineering documents for projects.
• Perform FAT and SAT activities with worldwide units.
• Perform design activities for various projects.
• Perform system and database validation before project delivery.
• Work with GE relays.
• Work with the team to achieve a high level of automation in testing by promoting innovations from the team.
• Review detailed functional and technical specifications.
• Review GE Grid Automation products, applications, system instruction manuals, technical presentations and end-user training material.
• Work with Customer Support personnel to resolve customer issues.
• Provide technical consultation to cross-functional teams to improve or resolve manufacturing, product, application or field issues.
• Assist in preparing training material and deliver training courses where required.

What you'll need

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Electronics & Communication.
• Minimum of 4+ years of professional experience.
• Hands-on experience validating and testing substation automation products and solutions.
• Hands-on experience with various relay integration.
• Knowledge of serial SCADA protocols, including DNP3, IEC 60870-5-101, IEC 60870-5-103 and Modbus.
• Knowledge of LAN-based SCADA protocols, including IEC 61850-8-1, DNP3/TCP, IEC 60870-5-104 and Modbus TCP.
• Thorough knowledge of all parts of the IEC 61850 standard for communication networks and systems in power substations.
• Familiarity with communications practices and procedures of electrical utilities.
• Detailed knowledge of Ethernet networking, wired and wireless technologies, and switch technologies.
• Strong organizational and communication skills, with a proactive and open approach to conflict resolution.
• Flexible and adaptable, open to change and modification of tasks, and able to display initiative.
• Ability to share ideas and work well in a team environment.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of GE systems such as DS Agile system, D25 and D400.
• Working knowledge of DS Agile Software.
• Good analytical skills with ability to identify and explain critical issues.
• Ability to work effectively with minimum supervision.
