Senior Data Recoverability Engineer (Data Governance)

Overview

The Senior Data Recoverability Engineer will improve the recoverability of critical business services within an IT disaster recovery program. The role focuses on data governance, dependency analysis, recovery validation, operational resilience, and recovery readiness.

What you'll do

• Maintain inventories of critical data assets, ownership, recovery requirements, and priorities.
• Support business impact analysis and recovery planning by identifying dependencies and risks.
• Develop dependency models linking business services, applications, databases, infrastructure, third parties, and data assets.
• Assess recoverability capabilities, identify gaps, and recommend resilience improvements.
• Define validation requirements, reconciliation controls, data integrity checks, and acceptance criteria.
• Support recovery testing and events by validating data, coordinating acceptance activities, and tracking remediation.
• Design metrics, dashboards, reporting, and automated controls for recovery readiness.

What you'll need

• 5+ years of experience in data governance, disaster recovery, resilience, business continuity, data management, compliance, risk management, or related technology governance.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Experience with data validation, reconciliation, and data integrity controls.
• Knowledge of backup, recovery, cyber recovery, disaster recovery, BIA, and operational resilience concepts.
• Understanding of applications, databases, infrastructure, cloud platforms, and their interdependencies.
• Experience with SQL, reporting, analytics, scripting, or automation tools.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, systems engineering, or a related field.

Nice to have

• Experience with Microsoft Purview, ServiceNow, Collibra, Rubrik, LeanIX, Ardoq, or similar platforms.
• Experience in financial services, fintech, banking, capital markets, insurance, or other regulated environments.
• Relevant certifications or coursework in governance, recovery, resilience, risk management, or cloud platforms.
