Senior Design Engineer

Overview

The Senior Design Engineer prepares, maintains and controls detailed mechanical design drawings, documentation and specifications using CAD software, supports prototype development and design validation, and contributes to design and continuous improvement projects.

What you'll do

• Prepare and maintain detailed design drawings, schematics or specifications using computer-aided design (CAD) software, preferably Creo.
• Create, modify and control detailed two- and three-dimensional parts and assembly drawings from engineers' sketches, plans and written and verbal instructions.
• Generate manufacturing, assembly, and installation drawings in accordance with ASME Y14.5 / ISO standards.
• Work closely with design originators, such as engineers and designers, to resolve design details or discrepancies.
• Develop and maintain drafting standards and procedures.
• Transfer and translate drawings from one computer system to another as needed.
• Provide CAD training to others.
• Execute routing design projects, including stack up analysis, part design, and related tasks.
• Apply GD&T, dimensional tolerances, and fit requirements.
• Prepare engineering change notices (ECN/ECO) and revision updates.
• Prepare and maintain engineering documentation, specifications, BOMs, and design records and ensure compliance with company standards and customer specifications.
• Support prototype development and design validation, cost reduction, value engineering, and continuous improvement initiatives.

What you'll need

• Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
• 3+ years of experience in mechanical design and CAD modeling.
• 5 years- 7 years of experience.
• Strong understanding of engineering drawing standards and mechanical design principles.
• Experience designing both plastic and metal components.
• Proficiency in CAD tools: Creo Parametric.

Nice to have

• Experience with PLM/PDM systems such as Windchill and Teamcenter.
• Knowledge of product lifecycle management and configuration control.
• Exposure to consumer electronics, medical devices, industrial equipment, automotive, or aerospace products.
