Senior Design Engineer, Design System

Overview

Senior Design Engineer for Celonis’s Design System, owning interaction decisions and front-end architecture for production UI built for both people and AI agents.

What you'll do

• Design and build production components using Angular and TypeScript.
• Own interaction decisions, component design, and front-end architecture end-to-end.
• Translate complex process-intelligence data and AI-driven behaviors into intuitive, high-performance UX.
• Set technical and craft standards for front-end quality, accessibility, motion/animation, and performance.
• Drive rapid prototyping to test novel interaction concepts.
• Maintain tokens-as-code and component metadata/docs/APIs so AI coding agents can consume them.
• Build evaluation guardrails (visual regression, accessibility, token compliance) in CI.

What you'll need

• 5–8 years across design engineering/UX engineering/front-end, including building a design system or component library in SaaS/B2B.
• Strong UX instincts with attention to interaction detail and usability.
• Production front-end skills in Angular and TypeScript, plus strong HTML and CSS fundamentals.
• Deep understanding of design token architecture (primitive → semantic → component tiers) and token pipelines.
• Strong Figma fluency with comfort moving between design and code.
• Accessibility expertise implementing WCAG 2.2 in code.
• Hands-on fluency with AI design/coding tools (e.g., Figma Make, v0, Cursor, Claude Code, Copilot).
