Overview
Design, develop and troubleshoot electrical modules for laboratory medical devices within the R&D Hardware/Systems Development team, reporting to the Embedded Systems Manager - Life Cycle Management team.
What you'll do
- Design change and develop high-density, multi-layer PCBs with analog, digital and mixed-signal circuits for new and on-market products and microcontroller-based subsystems.
- Own hardware development from concept to release, including design verification and risk mitigation.
- Ensure compliance with IEC 60601, ISO 13485 and FDA Class I/II requirements by coordinating external EMC/safety testing and driving design updates based on test outcomes.
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for product issues.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve manufacturing and field issues, conduct feasibility studies, risk assessments and design reviews, and validate designs through analysis and testing.
- Follow best design practices and quality processes defined during development.
What you'll need
- B.E./B.Tech or M.E./M.Tech in Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
- 5+ years of experience in medical or industrial-grade PCB hardware development.
- Proficient in electronic systems and circuit design, and EDA tools and simulation software (OrCAD, Altium, PADS, PSpice, LTspice, or equivalent).
- Deep understanding of EMI/EMC standards and IEC/FDA medical device regulations, and ability to develop EMI/EMC mitigation strategies.
- Demonstrated proficiency in problem solving and complex engineering investigations.
- Competent in test plan and report writing.
- Experience in product lifecycle management, execution of design changes and documentation.
Nice to have
- Experience in medical device design and development with advanced certification in Electrical CAD tools.
- Experience in IVD instrumentation, such as clinical chemistry, immunoassay, hematology, urinalysis, molecular microbiology or flow cytometry systems.
- Exposure to medical device design processes and quality systems.
- Exposure to BOM and PCB manufacturing techniques and strong PCB vendor communication skills.
