Overview
Own the electrical design and integration of medium-voltage skid solutions that interface with power converters, with a focus on power transformers, from concept and calculation through supplier qualification, prototype builds, factory acceptance testing and site commissioning.
What you'll do
- Own the electrical design and integration of medium-voltage skid solutions interfacing with power conversion equipment.
- Define single-line diagrams, schematics, protection concepts, earthing, auxiliary systems, cabling and interfaces.
- Size and specify power transformers, switchgear, protection relays, current and voltage transformers, cables, busbars and auxiliary components.
- Perform and document short-circuit, cable, grounding, thermal and protection-coordination calculations.
- Prepare technical specifications and support supplier selection, design reviews, qualification and issue resolution.
- Coordinate mechanical layout, cooling, access, transport, installation and maintainability interfaces with other disciplines.
- Support prototype and pilot builds, factory acceptance tests, site commissioning and root-cause investigations.
- Release and maintain drawings, bills of materials, calculations, validation evidence and engineering changes.
- Ensure compliance with customer requirements, applicable IEC standards, safety rules and product architecture, as well as applicable external and internal regulations, procedures and guidelines.
- Live Hitachi Energy's core values of safety and integrity, taking responsibility for your own actions while caring for your colleagues and the business.
What you'll need
- Bachelor's or master's degree in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent field.
- At least 8 years of experience designing medium-voltage electrical systems, power transformers, skids, substations or converter-integrated power equipment.
- Extensive hands-on power transformer expertise covering modelling, specification, design validation, supplier technical management and integration within medium-voltage power conversion systems.
- Strong knowledge of medium-voltage switchgear, protection, earthing, auxiliary supplies, cables and electrical clearances.
- Experience performing load flow, short-circuit, protection-coordination, cable-sizing and grounding calculations.
- Professional experience with EPLAN, E3 or equivalent electrical CAD tools and the preparation of production drawings.
- Knowledge of IEC standards applicable to medium-voltage assemblies, transformers, electrical safety and power conversion equipment.
