Overview
Support the development of new Medium Voltage (MV) products by designing and validating electrical systems, creating engineering deliverables, and ensuring compliance with industry standards.
What you'll do
- Review product requirements, engineering specifications, electrical schematics, and mechanical designs to develop innovative Medium Voltage (MV) switchgear solutions.
- Develop and maintain General Arrangement (GA), Single-Line, Three-Line, Schematic, Wiring Diagrams, and Bills of Material (BOM) for new product development projects.
- Design and develop MV assemblies, including power circuits, control circuits, protection schemes, and metering systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Product Engineering, Manufacturing, Test Lab, Reliability, Supply Chain, and Project Management to support product development initiatives.
- Perform design feasibility studies, engineering calculations, and validation activities to ensure product performance, reliability, manufacturability, and cost competitiveness.
- Support prototype development, design verification, qualification testing, and product certification activities.
- Ensure compliance with applicable industry standards and codes, including ANSI, IEEE, UL, IEC, and Eaton engineering requirements.
- Apply industry-standard drafting and modeling practices using AutoCAD, Design Automation, and other engineering tools.
- Develop expertise in MV equipment such as circuit breakers, relays, transformers, metering devices, communication systems, switches, and control components.
- Perform cable sizing, component selection, enclosure layout optimization, and integration of electrical and mechanical systems.
- Lead design automation, drawing standardization, and process improvement initiatives to improve engineering productivity and quality.
- Support root-cause investigations, design improvements, value engineering, and continuous improvement projects throughout the product lifecycle.
- Conduct engineering reviews and quality checks to ensure design accuracy, compliance, and adherence to organizational standards.
- Effectively communicate technical concepts, design decisions, and project status with global stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
