Senior Engineer- Mechanical (LV Switchgear)

Overview

Senior Mechanical Engineer focused on the development and maintenance of Low Voltage (LV) switchgears, with emphasis on motor protection circuit breakers and related components.

What you'll do

• Design and develop LV switchgear components including breakers, switch disconnectors, contactors, motor relays, and accessories.
• Perform system/component sizing, simulation, and testing validation for industrialization.
• Design parts for manufacturing and assembly, applying injection molding, sheet metal, casting, machining, and tooling considerations.
• Conduct engineering analysis for arc chambers, current paths, and contacts.
• Ensure subsystem/module technical ownership and compliance with IEC60947 or UL489 (and other relevant standards).
• Modify existing products via change management to meet customer, manufacturing, regulatory, and market requirements.

What you'll need

• 7-10 years of experience in product design engineering for mechanical products.
• Experience in Research/NPI/Sustaining projects for breakers, switch disconnectors, contactors, auxiliary contacts, accessories, or similar products.
• Expertise in plastic and sheet metal part design, mechanism design, and system integration.
• Proficiency in GD&T principles and clearance & creepage calculations.
• Knowledge of low voltage switchgear standards per IEC/UL/CSA/CCC to enable test plans.
• Ability to execute and assess tests (e.g., EN60947/UL60947 temperature rise and short circuit) and perform root cause analysis.
