Job description

Overview

Design and develop artwork for Printed Circuit Boards to meet customer-specific technical, cost and market-related technology requirements, often acting as Technical or Project Leader for projects and programs.

What you'll do

  • Apply basic engineering tools and principles, with creative thinking, to PCB stack-up design, Bill of Materials, and component placement for ease of routing.
  • Prepare layout, detailed drawings and schematics using computer-assisted engineering design software and ECAD tools.
  • Plan, execute and close assigned activities.
  • Confer with manufacturing, product teams, PCB fabrication vendors and suppliers to develop designs and resolve Design for Manufacturing, Design for Testing and Design for Assembly issues.
  • Plan, organize and lead projects.
  • Ensure all PCB design and review processes are well understood and followed in every design.
  • Prioritize effectively and act with speed and focus.
  • Identify competencies and personnel needed to complete tasks.
  • Perform typically as an individual contributor within a team.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in the PCB design process, design cycle time and DPMO, and contribute to process improvements.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders to define acceptable quality levels based on IPC standards, and continuously manage stakeholder expectations.
  • Consistently achieve results, even under adverse circumstances such as minor changes in schematics and/or placement; in case of major scope changes, communicate schedule impact effectively and openly.
  • Make and keep commitments to deliverable release dates by holding self and others accountable.

What you'll need

  • Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Electronics and Communication, or Electrical Engineering.
  • 10 to 12 years of total relevant work experience in PCB design.
  • Hands-on experience with Mentor Xpedition (must have); equivalent PCB layout and schematic capture tools will be considered an advantage.
  • Very strong high-speed and multilayer layout skills, including multi-layer stack-up design, differential pairs, impedance control and matched delay.
  • Sound knowledge of electrical and electronic components, surface mount and through-hole.
  • Sound knowledge of board fabrication, assembly and testing processes.
  • Very good knowledge of IPC standards such as IPC-2221A, IPC-SM-782 and IPC-7351, and UL and MIL standards.
  • Hands-on experience creating and validating footprints, managing PCB libraries, preparing schematics and performing layout design.
  • Good interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.

Nice to have

  • Awareness of CIS/CIP database, thermal management and enclosure designs.
  • CAM validation, checking and basic editing of Gerber data using CAM350.
  • Good knowledge of PCB design guidelines for EMI/EMC aspects, and some exposure to hardware testing.
  • Hands-on experience with high-speed board designs, signal integrity and power integrity analysis using Ansys or an equivalent tool.
  • Automotive domain knowledge for high-power layout designs.

Details

  • Location: Hadapsar, Pune, Maharashtra, India.
