Senior Engineer - Rust

Overview

Senior Rust Engineer on the Passkeys team, building Bitwarden’s WebAuthn and FIDO2 implementation and enabling credential portability across platforms.

What you'll do

• Design, build, and maintain WebAuthn and FIDO2 implementations in Rust (credential creation, assertion, and storage).
• Integrate passkey functionality with each platform’s credential provider APIs across browser, desktop, and mobile.
• Develop and evolve the shared Rust SDK, including language bindings and FFI used by all Bitwarden clients.
• Implement and help shape emerging standards for credential portability and secure import/export between providers.
• Build interoperability testing to validate correctness across relying parties, browsers, and platforms.
• Conduct code reviews and share technical knowledge.

What you'll need

• Production Rust component experience, including libraries, language bindings, and FFI.
• Experience implementing a standard/protocol from its specification with edge-case handling and real-world testing.
• Working knowledge of applied cryptography (public-key cryptography, signatures, key handling).
• A correctness-focused engineering approach for sensitive-data software.
• Experience using AI tooling in development/testing (Anthropic Claude preferred).
• Openness and authenticity with excellent communication skills.
