Senior Engineering Manager

Overview

Lead the Gateway Security engineering team within Mimecast's Threat Protection group, developing scanning technology for high-volume email, file, and URL traffic using AWS and other technologies.

What you'll do

• Collaborate with globally distributed cross-functional teams, including Product Managers, Project Managers, Architects, and Engineers, to define project milestones and deliverables.
• Engage with HR and Recruitment teams to attract, onboard, scale, and retain engineering talent.
• Manage teams working at scale with on-premises and/or cloud technologies.
• Identify and mitigate technical risks associated with projects to ensure smooth and reliable operation.
• Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture through effective communication and knowledge sharing.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives using standards and best practices to maintain high-quality software development.
• Monitor and analyze AWS usage and work with senior management and engineering teams to provide cost-saving recommendations.

What you'll need

• Strong communication skills, including experience communicating technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• A successful track record of project leadership, including planning, execution, and predictable delivery of complex projects.
• A strong technical background in software engineering.
• Hands-on experience designing and developing backend services at scale within AWS.
• Experience building and scaling high-performing engineering teams, including recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing talent development.
• Experience establishing and enforcing coding standards, best practices, and quality assurance processes to maintain high-quality software development.

Nice to have

• Experience managing hybrid cloud environments.
