Overview
The Senior Engineering Manager leads the Strong Authentication engineering team, building authentication capabilities that protect Target applications, data and business processes for Enterprise users, Partners and Third Parties. The role manages engineers while contributing to code development, production deployment and management, product roadmap development, user satisfaction and technical leadership.
What you'll do
- Lead a team to build tools, processes and capabilities that defend against an evolving threat landscape while balancing Security and User Experience.
- Stay current with industry standards and Cyber- and Identity-Security trends to leverage appropriate capabilities and deliver Cybersecurity outcomes.
- Partner with the Cybersecurity Threat Intelligence team to understand Threat Actor TTPs, reduce risk and ensure optimal defense capabilities.
- Use innovation and critical thinking to solve complex security and technology problems.
- Establish stakeholder relationships and work closely with Tech teams to influence the product roadmap and drive requirements.
- Advocate for agile and DevOps practices across the team.
- Execute the team-developed strategy, solve enterprise-wide problems and address key security concerns.
- Provide career development and performance management to a team of engineers.
- Provide insightful, motivating and constructive feedback to all roles on the team.
- Work with senior leadership and peers across pyramids to negotiate and remove execution-related barriers for the team.
- Develop code, deploy and manage software in production.
- Drive product Net Promoter Score (NPS), user satisfaction, product roadmap development and delivery of highly functional, exceptionally innovative and intelligent software alongside the Product Manager.
- Represent the team technically during cross-team collaborative efforts and planning.
What you'll need
- 4 year degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
- 7+ years of engineering experience.
- 1-3 years of managing teams with a strong track record of delivery for cross-functional products.
- Expertise in Java programming languages.
- Proven ability to deliver high-performance, scalable, repeatable and secure solutions with broad impact.
- Experience leading functional design and architecture discussions, with an understanding of process flows and system diagrams to support design decisions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information clearly and concisely to a variety of audiences.
- Team-oriented and passionate about developing others' skills and capabilities.
- Demonstrated experience providing technical oversight and coaching to others in resolving technical issues.
- Successful track record of working in large enterprise technology ecosystems leading complex technology teams.
- Deep understanding of agile development processes and methodology, including continuous integration and delivery, with a mindset of building incrementally and delivering business value quickly.
- Strong collaboration skills, effective management of complex cross-team initiatives and a desire to enable engineering teams.
- Experience evaluating new technologies and participating in decision-making, considering viability within Target's technical environment, compliance requirements, approved tech status, maintainability and cost of ownership.
