Senior Engineering Manager, SDKs

Overview

Senior Engineering Manager to lead the SDKs team supporting LaunchDarkly’s developer experience across platforms.

What you'll do

• Lead and coach a team of senior engineers.
• Own prioritization and intake for a portfolio of 35+ SDKs and the Relay Proxy.
• Partner with Product Management on the SDK and Relay Proxy roadmap, including version support and deprecation policy.
• Guide technical tradeoffs across languages and platforms to keep SDKs idiomatic, performant, and resilient.
• Represent SDK engineering with customers, Support, Solutions, and Sales, and communicate roadmaps, risks, and progress to leadership.
• Drive operational excellence for release quality, observability, and incident response for SDKs and the Relay Proxy.
• Participate in hiring to grow the team and raise the engineering bar.

What you'll need

• 5+ years of experience in a formal engineering management role managing senior engineers.
• Experience leading teams building developer-facing software such as SDKs, client libraries, public APIs, or open-source projects used by external developers.
• Working familiarity with several programming languages and ecosystems for polyglot technical tradeoff decisions.
• Ability to prioritize across many stakeholders and partner with Product Management with reliable estimates.
• Track record coaching and developing senior engineers, including performance management and technical mentorship.
• Excellent communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Familiarity with observability practices and comfort with production incident response.
