Sr. Product Engineer – Web Services

Overview

Senior Product Engineer focused on evolving backend web services that power in-app and programmatic workflows across the ArcGIS platform.

What you'll do

• Own end-to-end evolution, quality, and customer impact of one or more ArcGIS web services.
• Act as the primary product decision-maker for assigned services, balancing customer needs and platform health.
• Define service goals, success metrics, and quality standards using telemetry and customer feedback.
• Maintain and prioritize a product backlog covering features, defects, technical debt, and operational work.
• Manage service contracts, API behavior, versioning, and backward compatibility with downstream-impact evaluation.
• Champion reliability, performance, scalability, and observability best practices.
• Collaborate to validate and triage enhancement and defect requests with Support Services.

What you'll need

• 5+ years of experience in a product-focused role such as Product Engineer, Technical Product Owner, Product Manager, or similar.
• Experience working in Agile software development environments.
• Deep familiarity with web services and APIs, including RESTful services, service contracts, versioning, and backward compatibility.
• Experience working with ArcGIS applications/technologies including ArcGIS Hub, ArcGIS Map Viewer, and ArcGIS REST APIs.
• Working knowledge of cloud-native service fundamentals including availability, performance, monitoring, and operational concerns.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proven ability to work with high autonomy while collaborating across teams.
