Senior Engineering Manager - Streaming

Overview

Senior Engineering Manager for Roku’s Streaming/Video Platform Engineering team, leading engineering efforts for cloud-hosted video services that power Roku streaming experiences.

What you'll do

• Lead a team building a high-availability, cloud-hosted video platform for Roku streaming.
• Spearhead scalable video processing pipelines and improve video workflows (transcoding, packaging, publishing, ads insertion).
• Provide technical and organizational leadership to deliver high-quality, low-latency streaming experiences and QoS improvements.
• Contribute technically to design and implementation of core backend components for video services.
• Evaluate architectural tradeoffs for performance and security for high-concurrency video infrastructure.
• Collaborate with product, UX, and engineering teams to define scope and make product decisions.

What you'll need

• 5+ years proven track record hiring, building, and leading high-caliber product engineering teams.
• 8+ years software development experience with expertise in high-availability, large-scale distributed systems.
• Experience with modern cloud-based video processing platforms (e.g., AWS Elemental or Azure Media Services).
• Streaming domain knowledge including media formats (DASH, HLS, CMAF, MPEG-4) and DRM technologies (Widevine, Fairplay).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for stakeholder and senior-leader relationships.
• Ability to operate as both hands-on technical contributor and strategic leader.

• Location: Bengaluru, India.
• Hybrid work approach: teams generally work in the office Monday–Thursday, with Fridays generally flexible for remote work (role/assigned office may require 5 days).
