Senior Lead Engineer

Overview

Senior Lead Engineer (GG13) role in Content Engineering, designing, building and leading enterprise-scale applications, data platforms, analytics solutions and AI-powered applications using Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Platform, Lakehouse architectures, Generative AI and Agentic AI.

What you'll do

• Design and develop scalable, high-performance enterprise applications using Java and related technologies.
• Lead migration of legacy on-premises applications, databases, and data platforms to modern cloud-native architectures.
• Drive architectural reviews, technology modernization initiatives, and engineering procedures across teams.
• Mentor engineers and provide technical leadership in database engineering, cloud architecture, data management, analytics, and AI adoption.
• Stay up to date with emerging trends in cloud computing, analytics, artificial intelligence, and enterprise data platforms.
• Develop and maintain high-performance SQL queries, stored procedures, views, APIs, and data services to support critical business applications.
• Design, build, and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines for ingesting, transforming, and integrating data from structured and unstructured sources.
• Implement governance, security, data quality, lineage, and compliance controls across enterprise data platforms.
• Drive adoption of AI and establish guidelines for responsible AI and AI governance.

What you'll need

• 12+ years of experience in Software Engineering, Database technologies, Analytics, and Enterprise Data Platforms.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in computer science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
• Strong programming skills in languages such as Java, Python, SQL.
• Deep expertise in SQL, database design, data modelling, query optimization, and performance tuning.
• Strong proficiency in cloud platforms, particularly Microsoft Azure, including Data Lake Storage, Event Hubs, Functions, and API Management.
• Solid understanding of ETL/ELT frameworks, orchestration, and data integration across databases including SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Oracle, and Azure data services.
• Strong knowledge of security, governance, compliance, and operational excellence practices.
• Excellent leadership, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Core technologies: Java, Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, REST APIs, GraphQL, Microservices.
• Strong proficiency in SQL, PL/SQL, T-SQL, or equivalent database programming languages.
• Databases: PostgreSQL, SQL Server and NoSQL.
• Data engineering: Azure Data Factory, ETL/ELT Frameworks, Data Lake Storage.
• Agentic AI and Generative AI: AI Agents and Multi-Agent Systems, Prompt Engineering.
• Cloud and DevOps: Docker and container orchestration, GitHub Actions / Azure DevOps, CI/CD Pipelines.

Nice to have

• Microsoft certifications such as Azure AI Engineer Associate, Azure Solutions Architect, or Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate.
• Microsoft Azure experience (preferred).
• Experience with Microsoft Purview, data governance frameworks, and enterprise metadata management.
