Senior Manager, Product Design

Overview

Lead a team of product designers on Motive's Maintenance and Fuel vertical, while serving as the on-the-ground design leader for South Asia and building the design team in Bangalore.

What you'll do

• Lead and support a team of designers contributing to the Maintenance & Fuel domain.
• Drive high-quality, user-centered design solutions that simplify complex workflows for fleet managers, drivers, and operations teams.
• Partner with product and engineering to shape strategy, prioritize initiatives, and deliver impactful outcomes aligned with business goals.
• Own design execution end-to-end, from early framing and concepting through detailed design, validation, and iteration.
• Align teams around a shared vision through strong storytelling and strategic thinking, and communicate design rationale clearly to stakeholders, including senior leadership.
• Contribute to and evolve the design system to ensure consistency, scalability, and efficiency across platforms.
• Champion the use of modern AI tools to accelerate design exploration, prototyping, and delivery.
• Introduce and scale AI-assisted workflows across design and cross-functional teams.
• Stay at the forefront of emerging tools and practices, bringing new ideas into the organization.
• Advocate for design excellence and a user-centric mindset across the organization.
• Serve as the on-the-ground design leader in Bangalore, supporting designers across multiple teams in the region.
• Mentor and coach designers who may not directly report to you, helping elevate craft, execution quality, and career growth.
• Foster a strong, connected design culture in South Asia, including team rituals, critiques, and knowledge sharing.
• Act as a key connector between regional teams and global design leadership, ensuring alignment and strong collaboration.
• Build, mentor, and manage a high-performing team of product designers based in Bangalore.
• Help establish Bangalore as a center of excellence for product design, playing a hands-on role in attracting, sourcing, hiring, interviewing, and closing top design talent in India.

What you'll need

• 8–10+ years of experience in product design (UX/UI/interaction), with experience managing and growing design teams in a SaaS environment.
• Proven track record designing complex, data-rich web and mobile products, ideally in fleet management, logistics, or similarly complex domains.
• Experience working with distributed/global teams, with strong collaboration across time zones.
• Demonstrated success hiring and scaling design teams, ideally in India or similar markets.
• Experience mentoring designers across reporting lines or contributing to regional/team-wide design culture.
• Strong portfolio showcasing end-to-end design thinking, systems-level problem solving, high-quality execution, and measurable business impact.
• Deep experience with design systems and scaling them across products and teams.
• Hands-on familiarity with modern AI tools and workflows, and a strong point of view on how they reshape design and product development.
• Excellent communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to influence across disciplines.
• Strong business acumen and an understanding of how design drives product and company outcomes.
• Curiosity, adaptability, and a bias toward action in a fast-moving environment.
