Senior Manager, Software Engineering

Overview

Lead a cross-functional software engineering team responsible for TriNet's multi-tenant SaaS applications on private and public cloud, while remaining a hands-on technical manager for the Human Resource, Payroll and Benefits platform.

What you'll do

• Oversee a cross-functional engineering discipline that considers both business and technical customer needs to deliver a quality product.
• Manage the technical scope, schedule, cost, performance and risk, ensuring project plans are adhered to and on track.
• Coordinate with the project team and other departments to ensure the product is documented and designed to appropriate quality, certification and industry standards.
• Focus on execution of activities within an operating discipline covered by standard functional processes and procedures.
• Generate system functional requirements from stakeholder expectations and allocate them to sub-systems, hardware and software components per design.
• Interact with the engineering team to define and shape requirements for future platforms and systems, and recommend strategies or hardware/software enhancements to increase team productivity and efficient operation.
• Validate and verify system requirements in accordance with project plans, troubleshoot and resolve integration and verification issues, and develop and execute test cases and procedures.
• Inspire and engage a team, offering an environment of learning and career development and supporting individual and team goals.
• Perform other duties as assigned and comply with all policies and standards.

What you'll need

• Excellent problem-solving skills with deep hands-on technical expertise in the latest Cloud/SaaS based Open Source technologies.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Solid understanding of system engineering, requirements, integration, and computer hardware and software systems.
• Expert knowledge of data center infrastructure and virtualization technologies.
• Ability to project manage and collaborate to gather requirements and develop solutions.
• Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills.

Nice to have

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience; advanced degree.
• Typically 10 or more years of software design and development experience.
• Typically 6 or more years of engineering leadership experience.
