Overview
Own the product strategy and roadmap for Cloudera Manager, the lifecycle management tool for mission-critical clusters with thousands of nodes and petabytes of data, and evolve it from an engineer-facing tool into a straightforward experience for any data platform manager.
What you'll do
- Shift the product strategy from infinite customization to a simplified user experience with optimal settings for any cluster configuration and active guardrails that prevent self-inflicted outages.
- Incorporate configuration recommendations, actionable health alerts, and actionable bad-configuration warnings into the product using AI trained on Cloudera's knowledge base and real-time observability telemetry.
- Design intuitive workflows and self-guided administrative tools for IT generalists with minimal big data expertise, making documentation a secondary resource.
- Lead the long-term evolution of Cloudera Manager into an orchestrator of clusters across multiple clouds, allowing customers to deploy use cases in a hybrid cloud topology.
- Optimize core cluster lifecycle operations to manage environments up to 10,000 nodes, ensuring refresh and maintenance operations on 1,000+ node clusters execute within customer-approved SLAs.
- Establish and enforce structured release lifecycle policies that guarantee public API stability and backward compatibility.
- Monitor and continuously improve key performance indicators, focusing on operational velocity, prescriptive feature adoption rates, and support escalation volumes.
- Partner closely with Engineering, PMO, Product Marketing, and Field organizations to deliver a market-leading hybrid cloud experience.
What you'll need
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of experience in the enterprise software space, with at least 2 years of Product Management experience.
- Strong foundational understanding of open data lakes, data movement, enterprise data governance, and big data architecture.
- Basic technical understanding of virtualization and data center networking.
- Basic technical understanding of VM-based public cloud deployments (IaaS/PaaS), object storage architectures (S3, ADLS, GCS), and network architectures for at least one major hyperscaler (AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform).
- Demonstrated success in transforming complex, developer-centric platforms into intuitive, opinionated products with active guardrails that eliminate manual operational friction.
Nice to have
- Direct experience working with or within major cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP), including partner co-development, cloud marketplace programs, or cloud-native integrations.
- Strong knowledge of modern cloud data platforms and competitive solutions, such as Databricks, Snowflake, Google BigQuery/Bigtable, Amazon EMR/Redshift, or Azure Synapse.
- Familiarity with open table formats (e.g., Apache Iceberg) and multi-cloud data architecture strategies.
- Strong background with managing enterprise platforms or supporting customers running enterprise-scale deployments with over 100 terabytes of data.
