Senior Software Engineer

Overview

Senior Software Engineer role focused on building technically complex, mission-critical parts of Samsara’s platform and product capabilities.

What you'll do

• Take ownership of technically complex, mission-critical problem areas end to end.
• Define and drive technical strategy across new product and platform capabilities.
• Design and ship full-stack features from end to end.
• Partner with product, design, and customer-facing teams to translate ambiguous problems into technical plans and outcomes.
• Build and scale systems behind AI-driven products, including data ingestion, APIs, and workflows.
• Raise engineering standards through code reviews, design reviews, and technical mentorship.

What you'll need

• 8+ years of experience in software design and development, including production systems at scale.
• Strong full-stack fundamentals across backend services/APIs and frontend (web or mobile).
• Proficiency in modern languages and frameworks including Go, Python, TypeScript/JavaScript, React, or similar.
• Experience leading cross-team or cross-org projects from inception through rollout in ambiguous settings.
• Experience building AI-powered or data-driven products.
• Strong communication skills to translate between technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
