Senior Software Engineer (Android)

Overview

Senior Android Engineer for Okta’s Universal Components team, building and maintaining developer-focused open-source UI components, SDKs, and libraries.

What you'll do

• Architect and build modular, production-ready UI components using Jetpack Compose and XML views.
• Develop and maintain open-source Universal Components Android SDKs and client libraries.
• Write and polish technical developer resources such as tutorials, guides, and API documentation.
• Engage with the open-source developer community to provide technical assistance as an advocate.
• Conduct code reviews and uphold quality and UI testing standards across mobile libraries.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and fix complex issues in client libraries while keeping up with modern Android standards.
• Share technical expertise through conferences, events, forums, or technical publications.

What you'll need

• 5+ years of professional native Android development experience using Kotlin and Java.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience building production interfaces with Jetpack Compose.
• Ability to translate design mocks (e.g., Figma) into clean, modular, accessible Compose code.
• Experience developing reusable Android UI libraries, SDKs, or widely used application architectures.
• Deep understanding of Android frameworks, core architecture components, and the broader Android ecosystem.
• Experience deploying apps to Google Play Store or publishing packages/libraries to repositories like Maven Central.
• Experience with CI/CD platforms (e.g., GitHub Actions, CircleCI) and running automated UI/unit tests in CI.
