Senior Software Engineer CMDB

Overview

Design, develop and optimize Equinix's enterprise Configuration Management Database (CMDB) within ServiceNow, ensuring high-quality, reliable and scalable configuration data that powers ITSM, ITOM, SAM, APM and automation initiatives.

What you'll do

• Design and maintain CMDB data models (CSDM aligned), CI class structures and relationships.
• Develop and enhance ServiceNow CMDB using Business Rules, Script Includes, Flow Designer and UI Policies.
• Configure and maintain Discovery, Service Mapping and CMDB Workspace.
• Implement lifecycle states, CI governance rules and automation.
• Build and maintain Discovery patterns, schedules, probes and MID server configurations.
• Integrate CMDB with enterprise systems (e.g., SCCM, Intune, AWS, Azure, monitoring tools).
• Define Identification and Reconciliation Engine (IRE) rules and normalization processes.
• Ensure trusted system-of-record integration and deduplication strategies.
• Monitor and improve CMDB health KPIs: completeness, correctness and compliance.
• Implement data certification, duplicate CI detection and reconciliation automation.
• Conduct root cause analysis for data issues and drive corrective actions.
• Define and enforce CI naming conventions, data standards, policies and lifecycle and ownership models.
• Align CMDB with ITIL processes: Incident, Change, Problem and Asset lifecycle.
• Partner with ITSM, ITOM, SAM, APM and Security teams for cross-domain alignment.
• Identify and implement automation opportunities in CI onboarding, data reconciliation and service mapping enrichment.
• Enable AI-driven or rule-based CMDB operations (e.g., duplicate and anomaly detection) using Now Assist for CMDB.
• Integrate the CMDB with ITOM Predictive Intelligence to proactively identify configuration anomalies, duplicates and data gaps.
• Leverage automated data ingestion pipelines using ML to map third-party data into the CMDB via AI-Driven Service Graph Connectors.
• Work with infrastructure teams (compute, storage, network, cloud), application owners and architects, and asset and procurement teams.
• Translate business requirements into scalable CMDB solutions.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior developers.
