Senior Software Engineer New Markets - EU

Overview

Senior Software Engineer to design, implement, and maintain systems for Alpaca’s brokerage infrastructure, including regional reliability and incident leadership for EU/EMEA business hours.

What you'll do

• Design and build a highly scalable, mission-critical brokerage system.
• Develop and enhance middle- and back-office systems, including gRPC microservices and a React-based internal UI.
• Integrate third-party vendors and improve the core framework for multiple languages, currencies, and markets.
• Troubleshoot incidents and reported bugs to maintain system integrity and performance.
• Collaborate with global tech leads using Slack and occasional meetings, including outside regular hours.
• Act as operational reliability/engineering lead and incident commander during regional business hours.

What you'll need

• Proficiency in Go or similar backend languages.
• Experience designing robust, efficient system architectures for scalable applications.
• Strong communication skills for collaboration with global teams, regulators, vendors, and stakeholders.
• Ability to lead and troubleshoot incidents or bugs as incident commander.
• Strong computer science fundamentals and software engineering architecture experience.
• Ability to work independently in a fully remote, globally distributed team under pressure.
• Experience with event-driven design.
