Senior Staff Software Engineer (DataLake)

Overview

Senior Staff Software Engineer (DataLake) providing technical leadership to design, develop, and implement low-level services for a scalable cloud file system.

What you'll do

• Own the design and implementation of services within a product.
• Collaborate with Product Management and product architects to refine requirements and propose design changes.
• Lead enterprise-grade scalable, performant system development targeted at customer-delivered functionality.
• Design and implement large, complex features or architectural improvements.
• Guide and review junior engineers’ feature design, implementation, and escalations.
• Suggest solutions to complex design problems and drive engineering improvements.
• Write technical blogs and make technical presentations in internal and external forums.

What you'll need

• 5-7 years of experience (preferably in a product company).
• Experience building global-scale distributed SaaS applications handling petabytes of data.
• Hands-on design and development experience in Go/Python/C/C++/Java on Unix/Linux.
• Strong understanding of computer architecture, data structures, algorithms, and design/programming practices.
• Knowledge of data modeling for OLAP workloads and scalability/query optimizations.
• Understanding of data consistency at cloud scale, including eventual consistency models.
• Hands-on experience with big data tools/frameworks (DataLake/Lakehouse, ETL) on AWS, including Apache Spark, AWS Glue, and Iceberg.

Nice to have

• Working knowledge of Dockers and Kubernetes.
• Experience using genAI during software development lifecycle phases using tools like “cursor”.
