Overview
Lead complex, cross-team and cross-geography programs such as cloud cost optimization, platform migrations, and large multi-team launches, bridging executive leadership and engineering without managing engineers directly.
What you'll do
- Lead complex programs end to end, spanning multiple engineering, product, data, and finance teams across time zones, from scoping and planning through launch and post-launch review.
- Align product and engineering roadmaps across teams and regions, reconciling priorities, capacity, and dependencies into one integrated view of what ships when.
- Partner with engineering and finance to analyze cloud and infrastructure spend, identify savings, set targets, and track delivery against them.
- Run regular program reviews and steering committees, and write concise executive updates covering status, milestones, risks, dependencies, decisions needed, and business impact.
- Translate strategy and customer priorities into technical roadmaps and milestones, and explain technical constraints and trade-offs in plain business terms.
- Surface cross-team dependencies early, own the critical path, escalate with clear options and recommendations, and keep the plan honest.
- Set KPIs, SLAs, and success criteria for each program and report results with data leaders can trust.
- Improve planning, intake, prioritization, and delivery processes across engineering, and standardize the practices that work.
- Mentor program managers and engineering leads, and share best practices across the organization.
What you'll need
- 5+ years of experience in technical program management, engineering management, or a closely related role, including 5+ years leading cross-functional programs with software engineering teams.
- A track record of delivering large, multi-team programs across geographies, with measurable outcomes in scope, schedule, budget, and quality.
- Strong technical depth: able to discuss architecture, cloud infrastructure, data platforms, and CI/CD with engineers and spot risk before it becomes a delay.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, including presenting to VP and C-level audiences.
- Experience leading cost reduction or efficiency programs, including cloud spend (FinOps), vendor contracts, or resource optimization.
- Proven ability to influence without authority, resolve conflict, and make decisions with incomplete information.
- Comfort with program tooling (Jira, Confluence, or similar) and with building dashboards and reports from engineering and financial data.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
Nice to have
- Background as a software engineer or technical lead.
- Experience at a SaaS, ecommerce, or data and AI company operating at scale.
