Site Reliability Engineer

Overview

Serve as a founding Site Reliability Engineer embedded with payment platform teams. Define reliability standards and improve availability for critical payment flows from three nines toward four and five nines.

What you'll do

• Define SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets for authorization, capture, refunds, settlements, and webhooks.
• Own release lifecycle design, including canary rollouts, feature flags, and automated rollback.
• Lead on-call response, incident command, and blameless postmortems.
• Build automation for failover, capacity management, load shedding, and degradation.
• Harden payment systems against distributed-systems failure modes and reconciliation gaps.
• Run production readiness reviews and enforce launch gates using error-budget data.
• Design customer-focused alerting and run game days, chaos experiments, and failure injection.

What you'll need

• 10+ years of engineering experience.
• At least 5 years operating large-scale distributed systems in production.
• Strong software engineering skills in Go, Java, or Python.
• Deep knowledge of distributed-systems reliability patterns, Linux, networking, and databases under load.
• Hands-on experience with deployment pipelines, canary analysis, automated rollback, and feature flags.
• Experience carrying a pager, leading incidents, defining SLOs, and reducing alert noise.
• Experience with modern observability tools and reliability tooling adopted by other teams.

Nice to have

• Experience in payments, fintech, banking, trading, or other correctness-critical domains.
• Experience with Kubernetes at scale, service mesh, and traffic management.
