Site Reliability Engineer I

Overview

Site Reliability Engineer I responsible for ensuring the reliability, scalability, and performance of Mastercard applications supporting global operations. Focuses on production readiness, operational design, automation, monitoring, triage, and blameless post-mortems.

What you'll do

• Follow defined guidelines to perform routine SRE tasks using area best practices.
• Support day-to-day system maintenance and gather requirements for technical solutions.
• Identify automation opportunities and assist scripting efforts with guidance from senior engineers.
• Help troubleshoot and resolve basic system issues, escalating more complex problems as needed.
• Support deployment and monitoring activities for software delivery operations.
• Conduct triage and root-cause analysis with blameless post-mortem participation based on business impact.
• Participate in team meetings and knowledge-sharing sessions.

What you'll need

• Observability skills using scripting and tooling to collect, analyze, and visualize metrics, logs, and traces.
• Programming and scripting ability (Python, Go, Bash or similar) to automate tasks and support incident response.
• Systems/network administration experience configuring and troubleshooting Linux/Unix and network components.
• Cloud computing and infrastructure ability to design, deploy, and manage applications on AWS/Azure/GCP.
• Reliability and scalability concepts for high availability, fault tolerance, and disaster recovery.
• Troubleshooting capability to identify, diagnose, and resolve issues across systems, applications, and networks.
• Capacity planning and performance optimization skills to monitor utilization and forecast capacity needs.
