Software Development Engineer 1

Overview

Software Development Engineer 1 responsible for designing, building, testing, and supporting software solutions for benefits technology products.

What you'll do

• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand customer challenges.
• Use data to measure results and guide decisions.
• Design, test, code, and instrument new solutions.
• Apply TDD, BDD, microservice, and vertical slice architectures.
• Support live applications through monitoring and incident response.
• Analyze systems and processes to identify improvements.
• Partner with and mentor peers while supporting continuous learning.

What you'll need

• At least 3 years of software engineering experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Experience building and consuming REST APIs.
• Experience with C#.
• Ability to keep up with modern technologies and design.

Nice to have

• Experience or willingness to quickly learn Kubernetes.
• Experience or willingness to quickly learn Helm, ArgoCD, Terraform, or GitHub Actions.
• Experience with NoSQL databases, GraphQL, Azure, or Docker.
• Experience with modern relational databases, ASP.NET RESTful API design, Kafka, or event-driven design.
• Experience with modern web UI frameworks such as Angular or React.
