Software Development Engineer II (Full Stack BE Heavy)

Overview

Software Development Engineer II working on the Modern Checkout platform at Expedia Group, focused on backend-heavy full-stack services.

What you'll do

• Design, build, and operate backend-heavy full-stack services for checkout capabilities.
• Own problems end to end, from requirements through design, implementation, testing, deployment, and production support.
• Develop and evolve microservices and platform components in a cloud-native environment.
• Implement resilient, observable, high-performance tier-zero checkout services with CI/CD and automated testing.
• Collaborate to decompose legacy monoliths into a unified architecture enabling cross-brand reuse.
• Use AI-assisted development tools and safely integrate AI/ML-enabled solutions affecting engineering efficiency and checkout outcomes.

What you'll need

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technical field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 2+ years of relevant professional experience.
• Demonstrated ownership across the full development lifecycle in a cloud environment.
• Strong coding, problem-solving, and analytical skills, including data structures, algorithms, and time/space complexity understanding.
• Experience with service development lifecycle artifacts including low-level system design, API design, and data modeling.
