Software Development Engineer III

Overview

Design, build, and operate backend microservices and APIs that handle production traffic, with measurable uptime/latency targets.

What you'll do

• Design and implement microservices and APIs for production traffic with uptime and latency targets.
• Identify and fix performance bottlenecks in code or infrastructure, quantifying optimization impact.
• Develop features end-to-end from specification through production, including tests, code review, and incident response.
• Propose scalable architecture solutions supported by load estimates or proof-of-concept results.
• Build logging, monitoring, and alerting systems to surface actionable issues before user impact.
• Mentor junior engineers through code review and pairing.

What you'll need

• Proficiency in at least one backend language: Python or Node.js.
• 4+ years of experience in software development.
• Experience designing and debugging microservices or distributed systems with REST APIs.
• Strong SQL skills, including optimizing database queries and schema design.
• Ability to own features end-to-end from design through production deployment.
• Working knowledge of ORMs like Prisma and relational databases like PostgreSQL.
• Familiarity with background job queues and scheduled task management.
