Software Engineer-2

Overview

Software Engineer II on WEX’s Benefits Technology team, partnering with Product Managers and customers to build employer benefits solutions.

What you'll do

• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand customers’ biggest challenges.
• Measure and analyze data to drive engineering decisions.
• Design, test, code, and instrument new solutions.
• Use TDD and BDD and microservice/vertical slice architectures to strengthen the engineering process.
• Support live applications with proactive monitoring and rapid incident response.
• Analyze existing systems to identify bottlenecks and improvement opportunities.
• Review completed work with senior team members and your manager.

What you'll need

• At least 3 years of experience in software engineering.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Software Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Strong problem-solving skills and excellent communication/collaboration.
• Experience building and consuming REST APIs.
• Technology must-haves: C# and/or Python (if applicable).
• Modern RDBMS experience (MS SQL, Postgres, or MySQL).
• ASP.NET and RESTful API design knowledge.

Nice to have

• Kubernetes, Helm/ArgoCD, and Terraform.
• GitHub Actions.
• NoSQL databases.
• GraphQL and Azure.
• Docker.
• Kafka and/or event-driven design.
