Software Engineer, Core Platform

Overview

Software Engineer for Kong’s IAM team, building scalable backend microservices for Kong Konnect and the Developer Portal.

What you'll do

• Develop and maintain backend microservices in Golang for authentication and authorization.
• Build scalable APIs integrating identity and access management capabilities.
• Deploy and manage services on AWS using Kubernetes for container orchestration and availability.
• Implement secure backend services that handle high-volume traffic and enforce access control policies.
• Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code with unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.
• Participate in on-call rotation to ensure high availability of platform services.

What you'll need

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience building backend services and distributed systems.
• Strong proficiency in Golang for production microservices.
• Experience developing APIs (REST, gRPC) and building API-first services.
• Experience deploying microservices architectures in production.
• Hands-on AWS experience including EKS, ECS, Lambda, DynamoDB, RDS, and S3.
• Experience with Kubernetes for deployment, scaling, and managing containerized applications.
• Knowledge of security best practices for backend services, including credential storage and secret management.
