Software Engineer I, International Expansion

Overview

Software Engineer I focused on building full-stack experiences for fellows and internal tools/platform capabilities for operators.

What you'll do

• Build and own core fellow platform experiences (onboarding, homepage, project opportunities) and systems for fellow allocation.
• Design scalable platform capabilities that evolve manual operational workflows.
• Embed with operators to understand processes, pain points, and success metrics.
• Architect internal tools, automations, and workflows to improve operational throughput, accuracy, and visibility.
• Lead end-to-end projects from discovery and technical design through implementation and rollout.
• Drive improvements that reduce technical debt and establish scalable service layers.
• Collaborate to build reliable, secure systems that improve fellow and operator experience.

What you'll need

• 1-3+ years of professional software engineering experience owning production systems end-to-end.
• Experience leading technical projects with multiple contributors.
• Strong proactive communication and stakeholder management with high empathy/EQ.
• Excellent engineering judgment and systems thinking for scalable architectures and tradeoffs.
• Experience improving or modernizing existing systems.
• Experience building internal tools, workflow systems, or automation for operations-heavy teams.
• Comfort operating in fast-moving, ambiguous environments with evolving priorities.

Nice to have

• Experience building marketplace, allocation, matching, or workflow systems.
• Experience with AI workflows and agentic infrastructure.
• Experience designing service-oriented architectures or platform infrastructure.
• Experience with workflow/backlog systems, intake processes, and operational analytics.
• Background building tooling for knowledge-work operations (e.g., case management, review/approval flows, data quality tooling).
