Software Engineer II

Overview

Software Engineer II providing hands-on technical leadership across SaaS platforms and shared backend services. The role combines Java, distributed systems, cloud architecture, software design, and AI-assisted engineering practices.

What you'll do

• Define architecture for Java platform services, APIs, distributed systems, and event-driven applications.
• Lead technical initiatives across multiple engineering teams and product areas.
• Design, prototype, implement, review, debug, and troubleshoot production software.
• Establish patterns and guardrails for AI-generated code in production.
• Guide cloud-native architectures, microservices, integrations, and shared platform capabilities.
• Improve system performance, availability, observability, security, and operational readiness.
• Mentor Senior and Staff Engineers through technical guidance and collaboration.

What you'll need

• 4+ years of software engineering experience with production SaaS, distributed systems, or enterprise platforms.
• 2+ years developing production backend services using Java.
• Experience designing and operating distributed systems on AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Technical leadership experience across multiple engineering teams or product areas.
• Experience leading architecture reviews and establishing standards adopted across teams.
• Experience using AI-assisted coding tools in software engineering workflows.
• Ability to mentor engineers and critically validate AI-generated code.

Nice to have

• Experience with Claude Code or similar agentic AI coding tools.
• Experience with Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, Hibernate, Kafka, or similar Java technologies.
• Experience with cloud-native, microservices, or event-driven architectures.
• Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, or Oracle.
• Experience integrating LLMs, agents, or AI services into production software.
