Software Engineer II

Overview

As a Software Engineer II, you’ll build best-in-class SaaS solutions that enable efficiency, transparency, and accountability within government agencies. You’ll lead and deliver new features and improvements in a fast-paced, agile environment using ReactJS, Typescript, GraphQL, and NodeJS in an AI-first engineering culture.

What you'll do

• Collaborate across the organization to understand and translate business priorities into shipped features delivering customer success.
• Generate clean, efficient, and well-documented software following industry best practices.
• Conduct thorough code reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members for both Human and AI-generated code.
• Develop, test, and deploy high-quality software with minimum supervision.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve complex technical issues.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and operational excellence.
• Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends to drive innovation within the team.
• Contribute to OpenGov’s Engineering culture of innovation, leading-edge technology adoption, and quality.

What you'll need

• Thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth, ambiguous environment.
• Experience gathering and incorporating feedback from users, teammates, or stakeholders to improve the quality and usability of products or projects.
• Experience working across the stack, including frontend and backend, and comfort shipping features end-to-end.
• Experience building with AI-driven UX, agents, and workflow automation; direct ML experience is not required.
• BA/BS in a computer-science-related discipline or equivalent experience.
• Demonstrate a strong understanding of data structures and algorithms.
