Software Engineer II

Overview

Software Engineer II responsible for designing, developing, integrating, and optimizing scalable and secure RESTful services and enterprise-level API services for Trimble Unity. The role works across backend and frontend domains with Product, QA, DevOps, and Architecture teams to deliver end-to-end global solutions.

What you'll do

• Design, develop, and maintain RESTful APIs and microservices using industry best practices, secure coding standards, and compliance guidelines.
• Create, implement, and test software designs within the process framework established by the Team to meet established requirements.
• Maintain up-to-date Swagger/OpenAPI documentation.
• Integrate APIs with backend systems, RDBMS and NoSQL databases, and third-party services.
• Optimize API performance, scalability, and security.
• Participate in technical and design reviews.
• Provide constructive feedback in code reviews.
• Work independently or alongside quality assurance personnel to plan and execute comprehensive product testing.
• Troubleshoot and resolve API-related performance or functional issues.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
• Contribute to UI development and modern frontend workflows.
• Handle other duties as required and requested by management.

What you'll need

• 3–5 years of experience in software product development.
• Solid understanding of Object-Oriented Programming Concepts.
• Strong proficiency in API development and microservices-based architecture using Java / Spring Boot, Python / FastAPI / Flask, or .NET Core.
• Solid hands-on programming experience in Java developing high-quality, readable code.
• Experience in UI development using React JS.
• Hands-on experience with REST APIs, JSON, OAuth2, JWT, and API gateways.
• Strong knowledge of SQL/NoSQL databases and RDBMS.
• Good working knowledge of Linux.
• Experience with Git, continuous integration tools, cloud deployments, and scripting.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• A self-starter who is passionate about learning new technologies.

Nice to have

• Experience with GraphQL and gRPC.
• Knowledge of containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes.
• A solid understanding of DevOps practices.
• Exposure to API monitoring tools such as New Relic, Splunk, and Postman.
• Experience with any one of the Gateway functionalities: AWS, Azure, WSO2, or Apigee.
• A self-driven, go-getter attitude.
