Software Engineer III (Java, backend, Microservices)

Overview

Software Engineer III joining the InsuranceNow product development team to design, build, test, and improve backend product services using Java and related cloud and database technologies.

What you'll do

• Translate product requirements into functional definitions and software designs.
• Implement secure software development practices with Infosec teams.
• Develop product features and automated tests through hands-on coding.
• Analyze application logs and automate development tasks using AI agentic tools.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines for InsuranceNow services.
• Support service scalability, availability, and data security.
• Collaborate with product, QA, operations, support, and domain teams on enhancements.

What you'll need

• 4–5 years of experience using Java and object-oriented programming.
• Familiarity with continuous integration, continuous delivery, and unit testing.
• Solid understanding of SQL and relational databases.
• Experience with agile development practices such as TDD or pair programming.
• Ability to write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code.
• Willingness to learn the insurance domain.

Nice to have

• Database schema and SQL query optimization experience.
• Experience developing RESTful APIs.
• Knowledge of AWS Cloud services.
• Understanding of SSO, SAML, authentication, and authorization.
