Overview
Software Engineer L3 for Twilio SendGrid, focused on building and operating highly available, massive-scale distributed systems.
What you'll do
- Architect and ship reliable, high-velocity features for critical traffic with low end-to-end latency.
- Work with product and technical leadership to break down complex requirements into iterative milestones.
- Lead rigorous code reviews and promote maintainable Go patterns with strong testing standards.
- Manage and enhance AWS and Azure configurations using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).
- Standardize observability including metrics, alerts, and distributed tracing across core data pipelines.
- Identify technical debt, bottlenecks, and single points of failure while balancing refactoring with delivery.
- Mentor junior engineers and help lead technical sprint planning across distributed nodes.
What you'll need
- 4+ years of professional software engineering experience building and operating resilient backend services at scale.
- Practical experience using AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude Code) to accelerate code generation and testing.
- Strong hands-on production experience writing concurrent Go (Golang), Java, or Python.
- Experience deploying and managing production cloud workloads—ideally with AWS services and Azure equivalents.
- Terraform proficiency for provision-level automation and environment parity.
- Strong understanding and practical experience with distributed datastores, caching, and asynchronous event streaming (e.g., Kafka).
- Foundational computer science fundamentals and building self-healing cloud architectures.

- Work mode: Remote (US), with occasional ad-hoc in-person travel for team gatherings, off-sites, or customer meetings.
