Software Engineer (L3)

Overview

Senior Software Engineer (L3/P3) on the Twilio Segment team, building and scaling high-scale data ingestion and processing capabilities.

What you'll do

• Design and deliver robust, high-scale routing for Segment data pipelines.
• Operate always-available complex distributed systems in cloud environments.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with design, product, and engineers to balance usability, performance, and architecture.
• Communicate technical decisions, including trade-offs and customer impact.
• Mentor junior engineers and help drive technical excellence and continuous learning.
• Participate in an on-call rotation for managed services and troubleshoot reliability issues.

What you'll need

• 5-7 years of experience writing production-grade code in a modern programming language.
• Hands-on experience with high-scale messaging/streaming systems and processing engines (several thousand events/sec).
• Proficiency in Go, Java, Python, or similar object-oriented languages.
• Experience operating large-scale distributed systems on cloud infrastructure.
• Experience shipping services following a CI/CD development paradigm.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

• Work mode listed as Remote (India), with possible ad-hoc in-person travel for team gatherings, off-sites, or customer meetings.
• Based in any of the permitted India states: Delhi, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Telangana, and TamilNadu.
