Job description

Overview

Join Twilio's Compliance Experiences team as a Software Engineer (L3), contributing to Phone Numbers and KYC platform services that support global phone number inventory, identity verification, regulatory compliance and operational tooling at scale. You will design, build and operate reliable, production-grade APIs, microservices and tooling while using AI-augmented development workflows.

What you'll do

  • Contribute significantly to the architecture and long-term technical roadmap for the Phone Numbers Platform, transitioning legacy systems into a modern, distributed microservices architecture that supports global scale.
  • Use AI coding assistants, including GitHub Copilot, Anthropic Claude or internal LLMs, to automate boilerplate, generate exhaustive test suites and perform rapid prototyping.
  • Drive technical excellence and make architectural decisions that balance rapid feature innovation with reliability and security.
  • Partner with Product Managers to translate global telecommunications regulations and customer needs into developer-first APIs and application workflows.
  • Mentor and uplift junior and mid level engineers, and teach the team to review and orchestrate AI-generated logic without sacrificing security or quality.
  • Identify and mitigate technical risks, including scalability bottlenecks and security vulnerabilities, and lead the team through complex production incidents with a focus on long-term remediation.
  • Communicate technical designs and system trade-offs through design documents, RFCs and collaborative discussions.
  • Drive end-to-end feature delivery, author technical specifications and build APIs, microservices and tooling for cross-functional stakeholders.

What you'll need

  • 5+ years of experience designing and developing highly available, high-scale, secure, mission-critical cloud-native enterprise distributed systems.
  • Strong proficiency in Java or Python.
  • Solid knowledge of AWS ecosystems, including Lambda, EKS, DynamoDB and Kafka.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud-native infrastructure, AWS preferred, microservices patterns and building highly resilient systems.
  • Practical experience using AI tools, such as Copilot, Claude or Cursor, to accelerate software delivery.
  • Comfort discussing the use of LLMs for debugging, code synthesis and prototyping.
  • Experience building and maintaining high-volume public-facing APIs with a focus on developer experience.
  • Experience with high-throughput data processing and storage solutions, including SQL/NoSQL, Redis, Kafka or Spark.
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes, Terraform and modern CI/CD paradigms.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence technical decisions within a team through strong communication and technical credibility.

Nice to have

  • Experience building internal platforms that enable other developer teams to move faster.
  • Experience building or integrating AI agents into internal developer platforms or automated operations workflows.

Details

  • Remote role based in India.
  • The role is based in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Telangana State, Maharashtra and New Delhi.
  • You may be required to travel occasionally for project or team in-person meetings.
