Software Engineer - Video

Overview

Software Engineer (L2) for Twilio’s Voice Connectivity Trust team, building and operating real-time voice connectivity services for distributed production environments.

What you'll do

• Design and implement real-time services with high throughput and low latency requirements.
• Verify, deploy, and operationalize the team’s services in production.
• Gather requirements with Product Managers and participate across the software development lifecycle.
• Work with stakeholders to deliver robust, scalable solutions for customer needs.
• Support sprint planning, coding, testing, and deployments.
• Provide on-call support and incident response through operational rotations.
• Scale a distributed platform with global points of presence focused on availability, reliability, throughput, latency, and media fidelity.

What you'll need

• 2-3+ years of hands-on experience in large-scale, distributed application environments on JVM-based technologies.
• Experience building RESTful services, API design, and event-driven architectures (Kafka, SQS).
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines.
• Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructures such as AWS, GCP, OpenStack, or Azure.
• Experience with on-call rotations, incident response, and monitoring/alerting tools (Prometheus, Datadog, Grafana).
• Excellent written communication skills for clear technical documentation.

Details

• Work mode: Remote in the USA; not eligible to be hired in CA, NY, WA, PA, CT.
• Travel: may be required occasionally for in-person team or project meetings.
