Overview
Software Quality Assurance (SQA) Manager to build and lead an IEEE 802.15.4, Zigbee, and OpenThread QA team in Hyderabad, driving software and firmware quality for low-power mesh networking products.
What you'll do
- Lead, build, and manage an SQA team focused on IEEE 802.15.4, Zigbee, and Thread/OpenThread.
- Own people management responsibilities including hiring, onboarding, mentoring, performance management, and retention.
- Drive validation strategy and execution for IEEE 802.15.4 solutions with focus on Zigbee and OpenThread/Thread use cases, including Matter over Thread.
- Ensure quality coverage across protocol functionality, network formation/operation, security, interoperability, integration, stress/negative scenarios, and regression testing.
- Guide validation for representative Zigbee behaviors/ecosystems and Thread/OpenThread networking behaviors and robustness.
- Partner with engineering and program/product teams to align priorities, defect resolution, and release readiness.
- Establish quality processes and metrics, and drive scalable test automation and interoperability/certification readiness.
What you'll need
- 12+ years of overall experience in embedded software, wireless connectivity, networking, or related fields, with substantial IEEE 802.15.4 experience.
- 2+ years of experience directly managing an engineering/SQA team of approximately 5–8 members.
- Hands-on experience testing/validating/debugging or developing Zigbee and/or Thread/OpenThread solutions.
- Strong technical understanding of IEEE 802.15.4 and low-power mesh networking concepts (formation, addressing, routing, security, commissioning, interoperability, scaling/interference/long-duration behavior).
- Working knowledge of Zigbee architecture/ecosystem concepts (e.g., ZCL, commissioning, security).
- Working knowledge of Thread/OpenThread architecture/ecosystem concepts (e.g., IPv6/6LoWPAN, mesh routing, security, border-router interactions).
- Proficiency in Python for test automation and debugging; working knowledge of C/C++ and embedded debugging is strongly preferred.

- Requires close collaboration with global teams across the USA and Europe with flexibility in work hours for later-day meetings.
