Solid-State Drive (SSD) Senior Failure Analysis Engineer

Overview

Perform advanced system-level failure analysis of customer-returned solid-state drive products using AI-enabled diagnostic tools, data analytics, and automation technologies. Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to determine root causes, drive corrective actions and quality improvements, and lead projects focused on AI transformation, process automation, operational excellence, and continuous improvement of Failure Analysis capabilities.

What you'll do

• Understand customer failure modes and observed fail conditions.
• Perform initial Failure Analysis, including use of an Agentic-AI tool.
• Replicate the customer test environment.
• Perform Automated Test Equipment analysis and interpret results.
• Perform detailed fault isolation after confirming the failure.
• Collaborate with cross-functional resources and support groups to identify root cause and corrective action.
• Summarize findings and submit them for Component, Firmware, or Module Failure Analysis.
• Verify and summarize analysis at electrical and physical levels.
• Identify potential risks to external customers.
• Communicate with respective Business Units on potential customer impact.
• Provide formal Failure Analysis reports with findings.
• Provide regular updates through interim reports and conference calls.
• Provide additional information to enable identification of root cause and corrective action.
• Ask detailed follow-up questions as necessary to provide an adequate customer response.
• Analyze data from various sources for trends and variations.
• Drive overall process and product quality improvement.
• Record Failure Analysis results and usage statistics in the internal tracking system.
• Create and distribute Failure Analysis status reports.
• Stay current on the latest technology and AI development.
• Maintain operational knowledge of Failure Analysis diagnostic tools and methodologies.
• Comprehend qualification data and potential impact to customer operation.
• Stay current on common customer applications.
• Partner with the customer support team for quality project initiatives.
• Lead strategic projects focused on AI transformation, process automation, operational excellence, and continuous improvement of Failure Analysis capabilities across the organization.
