Overview
The Critical Facilities Operations and Maintenance Engineer is a seasoned subject matter expert responsible for working with major facility systems, including electrical and HVAC systems, and performing regular maintenance in mission-critical, high-risk, or high-reliability data center environments.
What you'll do
- Design, plan, install, and/or maintain mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and other infrastructure systems in mission-critical, high-risk, or high-reliability environments such as data centers or utilities infrastructure.
- Work with major facility systems such as electrical and HVAC systems and perform regular maintenance.
- Ensure proficient understanding of sensitive facility components that may be impacted by infrastructure system failures or malfunctions.
- Analyze current operating conditions and recommend preventative and proactive methods for maintaining and monitoring facility systems.
- Evaluate facility standards and practices to improve maintenance procedures and operational efficiency.
- Comply with organizational and governmental safety standards and coordinate emergency responses, ensuring corrective measures are rapid and thorough.
- Plan and install new facility systems, including HVAC systems, air or liquid cooling systems, CRAC/CRAH units, power distribution units, fire systems, and life safety systems.
- Repair, monitor, and troubleshoot systems as problems arise.
- Coordinate with building administration to ensure common area services are properly provided to clients and list services.
- Manage feedback, response, and corrective action processes for client feedback and concerns on facility matters.
- Assist in ensuring facility assets and installations are accounted for and monitored within relevant policies and reporting procedures.
- Complete work order requests accurately and on time and within budget.
- Order parts and supplies for maintenance and repairs when required.
- Assist in scheduling and supervising vendors/subcontractors during equipment and systems maintenance and service.
- Recommend ongoing improvements to the operations and maintenance program.
- Provide other engineering activities as required by the Critical Facilities Operations and Maintenance management team.
What you'll need
- Seasoned understanding of safe work practices set by safety regulations and legislation.
- Seasoned proficiency with sensitive facility components that may be impacted by infrastructure system failures or malfunctions.
- Seasoned knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Seasoned knowledge of CMMS systems.
- Seasoned knowledge of critical facilities operations and maintenance.
- Seasoned knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and life safety monitoring and control systems typically used in critical environments.
- Ability to maintain a positive and professional working relationship with cross-functional teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Good analytical skills, including the ability to analyze, refine, summarize, and clearly present data and information.
- Passion for service, self-motivation, proactivity, and the ability to handle multiple tasks.
- Ability to prioritize and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced and constantly evolving environment.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in engineering or a related field.
- Trade Certification or state license in Electrical or Mechanical (HVAC).
- Seasoned experience working in a similar engineering role, preferably in a data center environment.
- Seasoned experience in electrical, HVAC, mechanical, controls, or another technical engineering and maintenance field.
- Seasoned experience interpreting blueprints/CAD drawings.
- Seasoned experience in facilities/building maintenance.
- Seasoned experience designing, planning, installing, and/or maintaining mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and other infrastructure systems in mission-critical, high-risk, or high-reliability environments such as data centers or utilities infrastructure.
