Sr. Application Engineer

Overview

Sr. Application Engineer role at Vanguard to build backend services, APIs, and cloud-based applications for personal, digital, and institutional advisory platforms.

What you'll do

• Design, develop, and deploy cloud-native applications and APIs.
• Build backend services using Java and Spring Boot.
• Develop and maintain AWS-based microservices and serverless solutions.
• Implement API authentication and authorization using OAuth, Okta, and JWT.
• Monitor application performance using Splunk, Honeycomb, and CloudWatch.
• Support production applications and drive service reliability.

What you'll need

• Minimum 5+ years of experience in application development, system analysis, or database management.
• Proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, and Python basics.
• Experience with AWS services including Lambda, Step Functions, DynamoDB, S3, and ECS.
• Working knowledge of Splunk, Honeycomb, and CloudWatch (for monitoring).
• Understanding of API security using OAuth/Okta and JWT.
• TDD/BDD with test automation skills (Cucumber).
• Agile tooling experience with Confluence and JIRA.
