Overview
Support new product introduction costing for built-to-print mechanical parts, assemblies, supplier processes, and operations. Drive manufacturing cost competitiveness through cost analysis, manufacturability improvements, and product transition activities.
What you'll do
- Develop should-cost estimates for machined, sheet-metal, plastic, welded, and assembled parts.
- Troubleshoot costing challenges involving designs, materials, and processes.
- Review and develop designs for manufacturability and assembly.
- Coordinate pilot-production builds with manufacturing and product engineers.
- Review drawings and bills of materials for costing.
- Release drawings and BOMs through engineering change management.
- Prepare handoff packages for high-volume manufacturing.
What you'll need
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical, production, or industrial engineering with 5+ years of experience, or a related diploma with 7+ years.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and shop-floor operations.
- Proficiency in Design for Manufacturing and Design for Cost.
- Working knowledge of process planning and BOM management.
- Statistical analysis skills, including statistical process control and production data analysis.
- Knowledge of Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis.
Nice to have
- Knowledge of semiconductor or capital equipment manufacturing.
- Hands-on costing expertise with aPriori.
- Stakeholder management skills for technical matters.
- Experience designing software with Creo and NX.
